Xan Phillips Presents... Lou Brown
When at one end of the spectrum Elton John is saying "Songwriters today are pretty awful" it's reassuring to know there is one Dorset composer who is "a very unique special talent."The praise is given by Clive Gregson, an Englishman who is making a living penning songs in Nashville – the home of song writing. He's just produced Lou Brown's second album 'Calm the rising Waters' and added some Tennessee sparkle to her latest collection of songs. Lou has the ability pick serious moments from people's lives and transform them into beautiful and poignant songs. In this edition of Xan Phillips presents… we report from Mr Kyps in Poole, where Lou launched her album. She took to the stage six weeks after a very serious operation and was joined by Clive for a night of celebration in front of family, friends and fans. Also in this show there is more new music from the UK’s south including a couple of new tracks by Isle of Wight legends The Bees, the latest release from the acclaimed cellist Emily Burridge, plus Thomas Tantrum, Timshel, Nick Tann, Mutant Vinyl, Doyle and the Fourfathers, Archive and even the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. |
